Pressure Transducers For UAV

Pressure Transducers For UAVIt goes without saying that changes in pressure must be measured in any kind of aircraft. An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is no exception.

UAVs are mainly used for military purposes. The United States has lately been flying UAVs on special missions in Afghanistan, for instance.

These types of aircraft can be steered remotely from a central station or they can fly on their own based on an installed flight plan on the onboard computer controlled navigation system. A UAV can be armed and thus may be highly advantageous in combat, especially in situations where ground troops cannot reach a difficult location in a foreign, uncharted landscape.

Arguably the best types of UAV transducers are hydraulic transducers, depending on the specialist that you consult. A hydraulic transducer can be considered a type of differential pressure transducer which, as we know, measures the pressure between two defined points. They must be able to withstand the most extreme conditions, including extraordinarily high altitudes and sudden changes in temperature.

For such applications, a tough, highly durable low level pressure transducer constructed solely from stainless steel should be considered for implementation. Optimally, it should be customizable so that all essential monitoring factors can be met with no tolerance for error or hang-ups.

Expect UAV transducers that can work at an operating temperature range between -65 degrees Fahrenheit and 250 degrees Fahrenheit (-53 degrees Celsius to 121 degrees Celsius). The thermal zero shift should be at 0.01 percent of full scale output (FSO) per Fahrenheit degree at the very most. In terms of a wide pressure range, it should be able to measure 0-500 to 0-2,000 pound-force per square inch (PSIS).
