Fast Facts About Tires
Once on the road, you may need different kind of services because there are nearly always big surprises when you’re driving for a long time. For instance, you may need repairs to your vehicle or, for instance, your commercial truck tires.
Some embarrassing situations are unavoidable, like damaged wheels and faulty car parts. Tires are one of the parts that need the most care. Even during normal use, the wheel is subjected to rigorous conditions due to varying road conditions and extreme temperature instability.
Now, let’s see in detail the main features of tires. We know that a tire is a ring-shaped part, pneumatic (air-filled) or solid (including rubber, metals and plastic composites), that fits around wheels to make vehicles drivable.
Pneumatic ones can be applied on many types of vehicles, such as cars, trucks, bicycles, motorcycles, excavation and aircraft. Durable tires enable better vehicle performance by providing traction, braking, steering, and load support. Tires form a flexible cushion between the vehicle and the road, which smooths out shock and makes for a comfortable ride.
Pneumatic tires are made of a flexible elastomer material, such as rubber, with reinforcing materials like fabric and wire. Tire companies first went into business in the early 20th century, and grew alongside the auto industry. Today, over 1 billion tires are produced annually in over 400 tire factories.
The first practical pneumatic tire was made by the Scot John Boyd Dunlop, in 1887. He wanted to prevent headaches his son had while riding on rough roads, so he invented a special tire for his son’s bicycle.
