Ford F-150: Still Among The Best Pickups

Ford F 150: Still Among The Best PickupsThere’s been a lot of hype recently about the 2009 Ford F-150. As just about any American truck lover knows, Ford pickups have always been reliable, powerful and dependable. They go a long way with little maintenance needed.

Enter the new line of Ford F-150s celebrating the truck’s 60th anniversary. All are equipped with V8 engines, with three available to choose from. The base XL model, which is listed at only $21,790, includes a 4.6 liter V8 yielding 248 horsepower with a four-speed transmission. Of all the Ford trucks for sale out there, this one is sure to please those who want a burly beast to help get the job done right.

At the other end of the spectrum, you have the Platinum SuperCrew. This truck as the name implies has a full-crew cab, powered by a 5.4 liter V8 putting out 310 horsepower with a 6-speed automatic transmission. There’s plenty of room for rear passengers—43.5 inches worth. You also have premium leather seats—the front ones being heated—and 20-inch chrome wheels. The rear seats fold up to provide ample cargo space in case you’re too lazy to throw stuff in the 6.5 foot (or 5.5 foot if you want to keep it in your garage) bed. Nevertheless, the SuperCrew comes equipped with handy fold-away steps that you can use to assist you while reaching in. Talk about convenience.

Antilock disc brakes come standard on all models as well as air bags that are mounted on the seat and so-called “air curtains” which are contained in the liner for head protection in an accident. There’s also electronic stability control, useful in inclement weather conditions. These features arguably help to place the F-150 among the safest cars on the road.

Options include a moonroof, a rear DVD player for the kids, a rearview camera to help you back out of the driveway and even a computer that is built into the dashboard providing access to the Internet.

Ford pickups have come a long way, and the F-150 is daringly steering them well into the future.
