Nissan GT-R At Nurburgring
Few supposed that the Nissan GT-R would be considered a supercar and not least because its predecessors were simply categorized as sporty and fast vehicles.
Of course, any car that wants to officially earn the title of supercar has to face the challenge of Nurburgring, a motorsport race track in Nurburg, Germany. The track is considered to be the most difficult and challenging anywhere.
However, Nissan took the challenge and the GT-R appears to be the second fastest production model on Nurburgring after the Corvette Z06. It’s not the first time the GT-R has been tested there, but that was after rain.
Here’s what MOTORTREND reports.
Prior to the the 7:29 lap, the $70,000-plus Japanese sports car had already achieved an already impressive lap time of 7:38 in full production trim. Recently, Nissan engineers have been spotted testing prototypes of what is speculated to be a higher horsepower V-spec (for Victory Specification) GT-R in Germany, that according to sources, has achieved an unofficial (and blisteringly fast) 7:25 sprint around “The Green Hell.”
Autoblog comments on the race.
Regardless of the equipment though, the track is completely dry this time around and Nissan test driver Tochio Suzuki doesn’t hold anything back.
