Bugatti Veyron Crowned Fastest Sports Car
Tested on July 10, the Bugatti Veyron proved to be the fastest sports car in the world topping at 267 miles per hour, leaving behind the SSC Ultimate Aero at 257 mph.
The Aero had been at the top of fast sports cars list since March 2007 up to the fatal day of the Veyron’s victory.
The Bugatti Veyron is one of the most sophisticated vehicles ever produced.
Two-tone paint has become a kind of historic tradition for Veyron automobiles. Admirably selected color combinations emphasize the unmatched elegant style of Bugatti.
The Veyron’s W16 Engine fitted with four turbos produces a whopping 1,001 hp. Only 270-280 hp are required for the Veyron to reach a speed of 155 mph. And it is only due to its sleek aerodynamics, seven-gear double-clutch DSG computer-controlled manual transmission and specially designed tires that the Veyron stays firmly on the ground, even at its maximum speed.
The electronic stability program (ESP) allows to maneuver freely. You can drive in either semi- or fully-automatic mode.
It takes this fastest sports car only 2.5 seconds to go from 0 to 62 mph and even less (2.3 seconds) to come to a standstill.
Engineering the Bugatti Veyron was a great challenge perfectly mastered by the German Volkswagen Group. Each of its 8.0-liter 16 cylinders has four valves, and four turboloaders feed the engine.
The total number of Veyron’s radiators reaches ten, four of which are for the cooling system of the engine. Another two are for the air conditioning and one is for the heat exchanger. There are also transmission oil, differential oil and engine oil radiators.
Despite the sheer power of the engine (which consists of 3,700 parts), the Veyron weighs only 4,162 pounds.
The base price of this unrivaled Super Sport is $1,700,000.
