Audi RS6
In the past many people were choosing between fast and family vehicles. Now vehicles with both characteristics are more popular than ever before.
To some it may not be surprising to hear a manufacturer announcing an off-road vehicle with 500hp that is faster than some Ferraris or Lamborghinis. While SUVs like the Porsche Cayene or BMW X6 are getting closer to sedans in terms of speed, vehicles like the Audi RS6 have to be stronger than ever to beat the challenge. So let’s see if the RS6 is a worthy warrior.
Compared with its predecessor that was powered with a V8 engine, this model boasts a new V10 engine that sports 572hp. With so much horsepower the RS6 is beating out the BMW M5 and even Mercedes E63 AMG without any serious problems. For comparison it’s worth mentioning that the previous RS6 didn’t even try to compete with the M5 and E63 AMG.
Performance is not the only advantage of the new RS6 as it features an all-wheel drive transmission as well. Combined with a large interior, high speed and perfect handling, this car is ideal for those who are looking for a perfect family car and don’t care about spending $70,000 to have one.
Here is what Autocar reports.
Audi says that the RS6 will leap from 0-62mph in 4.6sec faster than the M5, and as quick as the E63. The difference, however, is that the Audi is likely to be able to manage that performance whatever the weather, thanks to standard quattro four-wheel drive.
ViaMichelin mentions strong and weak points of the RS6.
Strong points: Very high performance, ultra-efficient handling, surprising agility, maintained comfort (particularly with adjustable DRC), immaculate trim, top-of-the-range presentation, space and boot.
Weak points: Overly filtered sensations (of speed in particular), high price, numerous costly options.
