2008 Spirra: Korea’s First Supercar
The 2008 Beijing auto show saw many vehicles from various manufacturers unveiled, but the 2008 Spirra made by Oullim Motors stood out over others. First of all, it will be one of the few cars at Beijing that will actually enter production, but it will also be the first supercar made by a Korean manufacturer.
The Spirra is a good looking car and has some similarities with Koenigsegg. The lowest model Spiira S features a 2.7 liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 400 hp and 355 Nm of torque. The Spirra can manage 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 305 km/h. It’s not enough to consider the Spiira S to be a full supercar, but the top model GT460 has a monster under the hood.
Its 2.7 liter twin turbo produces an impressive 700hp and will definitely offer strong competition to rivals. That much power will be useless if the handling is not up to scratch, and for now the Spiira has not been tested so there is no information on that. What is known, however, is that you can purchase one for $100,000.
Motor Trend reports other features.
Carbon fiber body panels help keep the Spirra’s claimed weight to just 2376lb. The body design is relatively generic mid-engined supercar stuff, but that’s no bad thing – the Spirra S looks neat and handsome. The interior is also fairly conventional, although the center console boasts a sophisticated touch screen on-board computer system.
