Infiniti FX 50
The Infiniti FX50 is the second generation of models in the luxurySUV FX series. Compared with its main competitors, FX50 is slightly cheaper than a BMW X5 or Mercedes ML at around $50,000.
The FX50 is the top of the range with the number in its name denoting a 5.0 liter V8 engine under the hood which is capable of 390hp. That’s a huge amount of power which is able to push the FX to 100km/h in just 5.6 seconds. Many sedans weghing a lot less can’t do that in less than than six seconds.
Of course, power and luxury is one thing, but when it comes to an SUV, then first of all we’re interested in its off-road abilities. ActiveTuning reports on the vehicle’s systems which come into play for off-road driving.
7-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control and available solid magnesium paddle shifters, available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, 4-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension and large 4-wheel disc brakes. Also available on the new FX are a Continuous Damping Control (CDC) suspension, Rear-Active Steer, Intelligent Brake Assist and 21-inch aluminum-alloy wheels designed by Enkei.
Meanwhile, the exterior retains the overall look from its predecessor with only the headlights having been changed to give the FX 50 a more aggressive look. Edmunds reports about changes to its interior.
Inside the cabin, the FX50 gets the deluxe treatment. We love it. Diamond-quilted leather-upholstered seats are comfortable and sporty; the fronts are both heated and cooled and the driver seat is eight-way adjustable. Standard shift paddles click off matched-rev downshifts through the all-new seven-speed automatic.
Enjoy the test-drive.
