2009 Mercedes-Benz G-Class
The Mercedes-Benz G class is one of the best off road SUVs of all time. It’s therefore not surprising that the G-class has managed to stay in production for nearly 30 years without any significant changes.
However, sooner or later Mercedes would have to give a new lease of life to a new generation of G-Class especially as it faces competition from Audi, Land Rover and Volkswagen. These companies have already unveiled new generations of SUVs. The 2009 G-Class keeps its strong lines and unlike its competitors doesn’t have round corners. Actually, the exterior is pretty similar to its predecessor, but it also looks fresh and tuned.
If designers have decided not to change the exterior then it means they are sure that it has enough potential to compete with its rivals. I think everyone would agree with them as perhaps the only major improvement the G-Class needs is more horsepower. AutoBlog reports on that change.
The big news, though, is in the engine bay. The base V8 engine gets a whopping 90-horsepower bump from 292 to 382. Torque also gets seriously goosed from 336 ft-lb to 391. The boosted V8 and the AMG G55 get a much more modest boost of 7 horsepower for an even 500.
According to NEW CAR SEARCH it will get various systems as well.
Besides the squared vehicle has been given not only new wheels but also a new electronics even a new Telematics system.
