2008 Dodge Grand Caravan
When it comes to minivans then the Dodge Grand Caravan is one of the best. The 2008 Grand Caravan is the fifth generation made by Chrysler and looking at this car the first thing that comes to mind is that it is a huge family car. Those with large families are going to love the Grand Caravan as it offers a lot of space and seats, but those are not the only attractive features.
Compared with its predecessors there are over 35 new or improved features on the 2008 Grand Caravan. Some of the most notable include “Swivel-N-Go” seating with a stowable table, the MyGIG entertainment system, second and third row video screens, powered second row windows, and standard side curtain airbags. You’ll find some changes under the hood as well.
The four-cylinder based engine has been changed with three versions of V6 engines which are 3.3-liter (175 hp), 3.8 (197 hp) and a new 4.0-liter engine serving 251hp. Although all the mentioned features are good, the most useful and important feature is improved safety. This is obviously something very necessary in a family car as children are some of the most frequent passengers.
According to Autoblog Grand Caravan gets mostly good results in crash tests.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has smashed up a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and the results are mostly good.
In front crash tests, the newly redesigned minivan gets all green Gs, the highest rating the Institute gives and in side crashes, the Dodge’s multiple airbags helped it get all Gs except in the “structure/safety cage” category, where it got the next lower Acceptable rating. The IIHS Web site doesn’t have any explanation for that slightly lower rating.
About.com reports on pricing.
For the first time in decades, Dodge is selling just a single length van: the long-wheelbase Grand Caravan. According to Chrysler, most of the private buyers who opted for the short-wheelbase Caravan did so because it was cheaper. Problem solved: At $22,470, the entry-level 2008 Grand Caravan SE is less expensive than last year’s bottom-of-the-line Caravan.
