Bejing Auto Show: 2009 Audi Q5
If we can consider Mercedes as the manufacturer of classic and comfortable vehicles or BMW for more sporty and wild cars, then another German auto manufacturer, Audi, sits between the two with some recent impressive models. Audi keeps unveiling vehicles at any auto show and one of the main stars of the Bejing Auto Show was the 2009 Audi Q5.
Of course, Audi’s main competitors are already producing the BMW X3 and Mercedes GLK, but looking at the Q5 you can understand that it should prove to be a strong rival. Compared with its big brother, the Q7, the new model is more compact and seems more able of coping off road.
AutoUnleashed reports what you’ll find under the hood.
Audi Q5 will be available with three engine choices, one petrol and two diesel engines, all turbocharged. The four-cylinder 2.0 TFSI has been entirely redesigned and develops 155 kw (211 hp) and peak torque of 350 Nm (258.15 lb-ft).

The top of the line is the 3.0 TDI V6 engine, which develops 176 kW (240 hp), with 500 Nm (368.78 lb-ft) of torque available between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm and it takes the Audi Q5 from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 6.5 seconds, accelerating to a top speed of 225 km/h (139.81 mph).
It’s hard to see any major differences between the models from BMW, Mercedes and Audi although the latter has an advantage in terms of its lower price. Maybe Audi will outsell its rivals as a result, but anyway. Audi presentation of the Q5 at the Beijing Motor Show can be seen in the video below.
