Hail Storm Damages 30,000 Volkswagens
Everyone who was watching the soccer match between Germany and Turkey knows that it was stopped due to a huge hail storm. Although it’s not only football fans that were disappointed–the German vehicle manufacturer Volkswagen faced tremendous damages.
That day at a plant in Emden, on the North Sea coast in Germany, over 30,000 new Volkswagen vehicles were parked which were bombed by hail the size of ping-pong balls. As a result brand new VW Golf and EOS cars were damaged, but Volkswagen at least is insured.
Here’s what CARSCOOP reports.
The parked cars were waiting to be shipped to dealerships overseas as Emden is one of Europe’s three main vehicle-transportation ports.
VW company spokesman Christoph Adomat told the Süddeutsche Zeitung that the vehicles parked outside suffered chipped paint and/or dings, but luckily no windshields were broken.
