Business Week Best Driven Cars Of 2007
As we will be celebrating the New Year in a few days, now is the ideal time to look back at the year that’s been and to honor those automobiles that were considered the best cars of 2007.
Of course, the choice could be considered subjective, but Thane Peterson from BusinessWeek has taken a stab with his list of the best cars of 2007. The choice was from 50 cars tested, but was narrowed down to the top 10.
I’m not going to test your patience and so, without much further ado, here is the list of the best cars in the various categories.
Best Family Sedan
Honda AccordBest Entry-Level Luxury Car
Cadillac CTSBest High-End Luxury Car
Mercedes-Benz CL550Best Sporty Roadster
Audi TTBest New Crossover (tie)
Buick EnclaveBest New Crossover (tie)
Mazda CX-9Best New Economy Car
Mini Cooper SBest New Hybrid
Nissan Altima HybridBest New Minivan
Chrysler Town and CountryBest Full-Size Pickup Truck
Chevrolet Silverado
And even though it’s still 2007, Peterson already has an idea as to what vehicles will be included in the list of best cars for 2008.
If I do the same list next year, I would expect it to include more hybrids and high-mileage economy cars. Car sales are rising while truck, van, and SUV sales plunge, because buyers are putting a premium on fuel economy. The new energy bill Congress just passed mandating high fuel economy won’t have much immediate effect. But one hopes it will have a psychological effect on both Detroit carmakers and consumers.
Perhaps some of you will disagree with this list as there aren’t any BMW’s or Porsche’s listed, but it should be pointed out that Peterson included only those cars that he had tested in the list.
