BMW: Uncrashable Motorcycle?

BMW: Uncrashable Motorcycle?Although known mainly for its cars, most of us are also aware that BMW manufactures motorcycles and has a valuable share of that market. We’re not used to news about BMW’s reported work on an “uncrashable” motorbike which, according to according autoblog, uses a computer-controlled “flexi-frame”.

Using a flexi-frame which pivots and hinges at most any conceivable location, the computer controlled chassis would be able to right itself even when the rider or outside influences would dictate a crash.

BMW has not said made any official announcements regarding such a project, but considering that other manufacturers are working on producing fully automated cars by 2015, perhaps we shouldn’t discount such rumors either.

It all sounds pretty futuristic but I’m sure these cars and motorcycles, of course, but I’m sure it will be a reality one day. In 30 years time, for example, none of us will probably even bat an eyelid when a driverless, uncrashable car passing us by.
