Porsche Restarts Production After Explosion

Porsche Restarts Production After ExplosionA few days ago there was an explosion at Porsche’s factory in Stuttgart where 911 models are built. The result was that 800 units were damaged.

According to Autoblog the cause for an explosion was a technical defect.

Apparently a furnace used for drying coating sheaths was the source of the boom, which set off the sprinkler systems and ground 911 production to a halt. Reports say production will be down at least 2 – 3 days, which means Porsche could lose about 320 to 480 units of production, not to mention the cost of damage to property.

Certainly that’s not a good news especially for 911 fans, but yesterday we learned that Porsche is restarting production and is going to make up for losses by adding extra hours for workers. Even so, it really hurts to hear of so many of your favorite cars completely destroyed.
