Opel Celebrates 10 Millionth Astra
Every European would agree that the Opel Astra is one of the best small family cars. Not only is it small in size, but it’s also perfect for couples on a limited budget as it’s small in price as well.
No wonder then that Opel have just celebrated the 10 millionth Astra produced.
Considering that Opel has produced this model since 1991 then achieving such a result is really a success. Astra is possibly the cheapest Opel available and the latest model comes with a 1.8-liter Ecotec inline-4 engine which sports 140hp.
For speed lovers there is also a supercharged model with 178hp, but the strongest point of Astra is the quality of its interior. Auto Unleashed reports about Astra’s success.
The first generation Opel Astra was built until 1998 with 4.13 million units sold, which makes it one of the most successful cars evers. The second generation, built between 1998 and 2004 was sold in 3.8 million units, while the current generation, introduced in 2004 was sold in 1.9 million units, with over 500,000 sold only last year.
Leftlane reports about the 10 millionth model.
Lucky number 10,000,000 was a Silver Lightning 5-door 1.7 CDTI, equipped with a few special features to commemorate the milestone.
