Mugen-Tuned 2008 Honda Civic Mugen Si Sedan

Mugen Tuned 2008 Honda Civic Mugen Si SedanWhen it comes to tuning the Civic Si Sedan, Mugen who Honda prefers. Mugen means “without limits,” and is a tuning company which has partnered with Honda since 1973.

The Civics that were tuned by Mugen have never been exported and were sold only in Japan, but the 2008 Honda Civic Mugen Si Sedan will change all that. For the first time since 1973, they are being exported to U.S. and what Mugen has done is create something of a wild looking car with a sporty air dam and an A380-sized rear wing, 18 inch aluminum wheels and an updated suspension. All these combined together give an aggressive and symmetric views from all sides. The interior remains untouched, however.

The Automobile Car Blog has tested the new Honda Civic and have more on its technical specification.

The Civic Si’s 197-hp, 2.0-liter inline-four remains a stock virgin, save for the sport exhaust that reduces back pressure aft of the catalytic converter. This seems a lost opportunity, because tuner kids know that Mugen’s real expertise is in giving Honda engines more suds. On the chassis front, Mugen lowered the suspension 0.6 inch, added forged wheels shod with BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 215/40ZR-18s, and increased spring and shock rates.

What is strange, though, is that the Civic Mugen Si Sedan is not so fast compared to the stock version. It accelerates from 0-60 0.1 second slower then the Si coupe. But, if you want better handling, a more aggressive look, and don’t mind about performance, then the Civic Si Sedan tuned by Mugen might just be what need. If the car finds success in U.S., then Honda might even think of improving its performance too.
