Silbervogel Gravity Car With No Engine

Silbervogel Gravity Car With No EngineConcepts are becoming a habit in the auto world, but only some represent true revolutionary innovation rather then just some futuristic concept. Take the Silbervogel from Mercedes-Benz. It has no engine.

The concept was designed by Jakob Hirzel from the Pforzheim University Of Applied Sciences in Germany and the engine is gravity. As you can see in the picture above, the shape is unique as well, but that’s not just because of design. Every part is optimized for the lowest resistance. Attention was specifically paid to aerodynamic features as for a car which counts only on a gravity, that’s one of the most important requirements.

As Tuvie reports, Silbervogel was made to catch the spirits of tradition, innovation and competition.

The Silbervogel is a gravity racing car without engine, designed for the Xtreme Gravity Series in Irvine, California. The aim of this design was to catch the spirits of tradition, innovation and competition. The flowing language of the main body breathes the air of legendary Mercedes-Benz automobiles. Divided in a transparent lower shell and a silver top part with its sweeping glass band running from the nose to the back, the racing car seems to hover a few inches over the road.
