Renault Koleos Or Renault’s First Off-Road
When car manufacturers consider producing a concept car they have two things in mind. That is, to illustrate how advanced they are as a company, or to eventually develop the idea for mass market production. However, Renault’s case is a little bit different as the Renault Koleos was not only a concept, but will also be the French manufacturer’s first off-road vehicle.
The compact SUV was first presented as a concept car at the 2006 Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris, and production is expected to start in 2008. Renault doesn’t appear to want anyone to see the Koleos yet, but look at what photographers for Auto Express managed to do.
Our spy photographers tracked development of the SUV, capturing a host of test mules and prototypes being put through their paces. But official images leave nothing to the imagination when it hits UK showrooms, the Koleos will be largely unchanged from what you see here.
The new model will compete with the new Land Rover Freelander and Honda CRV. Official pricing is not yet announced, but expected to be somewhere in the region of £17,500 .
