BMW X6 Debut At Detroit
Few people doubt that the Detroit Auto Show is going to be pretty hot, but if there is anyone who thinks that it won’t be, then the BMW X6 presented at the show might change their minds.
The BMW X6 was first shown at the Frankfurt Auto Show as a concept vehicle, but the good news is that at Detroit the BMW X6 will be official. BMW offers two options to choose from: The xDrive50i is powered by a new twin-turbo, direct-injected 4.4L V8 pumping out 400-horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque, while the xDrive35i will boast BMW’s acclaimed 300-hp TT inline six-cylinder.
According to The Torque Report this is the first eight-cylinder gasoline engine in the world.
The new V8 engine with Twin Turbo technology and direct gasoline injection, is likewise making its world debut in the BMW X6. Displacing 4.4 liters, this eight-cylinder with maximum engine output of 400 hp and peak torque of 450 lb-ft available over an unusually large range of engine speed from 1,800-4,500 rpm, is the most powerful engine ever seen in a BMW X Model.
The production X6 looks pretty much just like the concept version we saw earlier this year although the sloping roof obviously forces owners to compromise when it comes to space. More details will be available next month when it is officially unveiled to the public.
