Although Barret-Jackson’s auction is mostly known as one for automobiles, other items including trucks, motorcycles, and engines are also sold. From 2007 the auction is also selling boats and many other things.
Barret-Jackson’s auction is one of the most popular auctions in the world, and often makes headlines. In 2007, for example, a 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C “Supersnake,” was sold for $5 million. According to Racedriven that was Carroll Shelby’s personal vehicle.
“SUPER SNAKE” with a 427 Supercharged engine attached to a 3-speed Automatic Transmission that puts down 800 horsepower that hammered down at 5 million dollars.
The auction goes from strength to strength year after year, and the Barret-Jackson name is known worldwide. It’s also interesting to see which cars will sell and break previous records for auction bids. This year’s candidates must be the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, a Shelby (Ford Mustang) GT500KR, a Dodge Challenger SRT8, the ESCALADE ESV “Tailgater”, the F-150 “Nut-shaker” and the PT “Wood Chipper” Cruiser.
A 1969 Shelby GT500 Convertible, again from his personal collection, is anticipated to hit the $3 million mark. Car enthusiasts with money should therefore get themselves ready for 15 January and make sure their bid is the one that counts.
