Batman’s Batmobile Sold

The futuristic car from the popular movie “Batman Forever” (1995) was recently put up for an auction by Warner Bros. at RM Auctions and sold for $297,000. If you think that’s a might price even for the Batmobile, you’d be surprised. The car cost $2,800,000 to build.

Of course, it should also be pointed out that the car sold wasn’t the actual Batmobile seen in the movie, but a promotional vehicle that was used only for publicity tours. There were also many conditions set by Warner Bros. which affected the price. The autounleashed.com blog publishes all the conditions, but take a look at the most interesting one:

The Batmobile may be driven solely when necessary for maintenance purposes and may never be driven while in public view.

I wonder why Warner Bros. prohibit driving the car in public? Certainly, I would like this car to drive and to make believe I’m as heroic as Batman. Then again, just one look at this car is enough to take your breath away so my congratulations to new owner of the Batmobile.
