Barrett-Jackson 2008: Under The Hammer
We recently wrote about an upcoming Barrett-Jackson 2008 auction, and now we can report that it’s started. Seems to be successful so far, with the first ever 2009 Corvete ZR1 going for $1,000,000. A Ford Thunderbird Italien Concept with a fascinating history was sold for $600,000.
In the past, Ford show cars was destroyed after events, but this this one was kept. It was first shown at the New York World’s Fair in 1964, but instead of being destroyed it was sold to actor Dale Robertson. A Ford collector bought it and kept it for 20 years before it was finally purchased by Thunderbird restorer, Tom Maruska. It was then brought to Barrett-Jackson 2008. Nice path, isn’t it?
Well, I might not be able to afford any of the cars on offers at such auctions, but think I’d especially like them even more if I could. Auto Blog reports that everything over the $99,999 list price will be tax deductible.
An auction is always an event full of excitement as the adrenalin courses through the veins of potential buyers wishing to spend thousands of dollars to purchase their dreams or fantasies. Even reading about Barrett-Jackson 2008 makes me feel the same.
