There are definitely people out there who have so much money that they either don’t know how to spend it or have everything already so when a number plate is up for sale just with the number “1″ on it, it’s got to be worth almost any price.

For Saeed Khouri, one of the richest families in the Middle East, that certainly seems to be the case. Khouri’s garage is already full of expensive cars such as Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Bugattis that paying $14 million for a car plate was an opportunity not to be missed.

Yes, for the same money he could buy more than ten Veyrons, but at least it all went to charity. According to Auto Unleashed it’s become customary for auctions to donate to just causes.

The plate was bought during a charity auction held by the Abu Dhabi Police Department. The past five auctions raised $56 million across 393 plates, with all proceeds going to charity. Money from today’s record sell will go to victims of road accidents.

Recently we were surprised by plate that was sold for $900,000 and this new bid is $14 million. Anyone want to go any higher?
