When we consider a TV program about cars what’s the first show that comes to mind? Right, it’s Top Gear, the really unique show without any close competitor in sight.

Other TV shows about cars just test them and not much more, but Top Gear is something more original. At times it’s like watching a movie. Jeremy, Richard and James, these three names are already enough to watch this program.

Each has his own style and they’re all the best at what they do. I’m not even speaking about Stig, one of the best testers.

It’s no surprise therefore that NBC co-chairman, Ben Silverman, has announced that his network has ordered a pilot for an American version of Top Gear. It will be the same format, but with different presenters. That sounds really weird, and the folks at Auto Unleashed feel the same.

How can you imagine a Top Gear show without Jeremy, Richard or James? I remember I saw a few episodes of the UK version of “Pimp my ride” and I must say, that guy was awful. So bringing a major show like Top Gear to another country and with other cast well that’s not Top Gear anymore.

Then again, it sounded weird when Pierce Brosnan was followed by Daniel Craig in the recent James Bond movie. Even though people said that the choice of a replacement actor was wrong, the film proved to be one of the best yet. Maybe the same will be true for Top Gear.
