Hot Concepts At Detroit 2008
We’re all waiting for the Detroit Auto Show and it looks like there’ll be some really cool concept cars presented there. One of them will be the Hummer HX Concept, designed by three new GM designers under Carl Zipfel’s supervision, the director of the Hummer design studio.
Next Comes the Land Rover LXR Concept which will be a two-door concept SUV and slotted in below the Freelander and available for sale in 2011. Land Rover is currently enjoying its best sales year in history and the idea of a concept vehicle will add charm to the Brand.
The last but not the least is the concept called Furai by Mazda. It will be shown next month in Detroit with the 2009 RX-8. Its name translates from the Japanese to “sound of the wind. AutoBlog reports.
Furai takes Mazda’s unique Nagare (Japanese for “flow”) design language a step further as it is translated into a concept car based on an American Le Mans Series (ALMS) racing car. The car utilizes the Courage C65 chassis the company campaigned in the ALMS series only two seasons ago, and the 450-hp three-rotor rotary engine that distinguishes it from anything else on the track.
Of course, these won’t be the only concepts presented in Detroit 2008, but these three are already enough to make any enthusiast want to visit Detroit next month.
