How Are The Safest Cars Safe?
When I was younger and still had no car, I was dreaming of the one that would provide me with great speed and would arouse others’ admiration.
But a year ago when I was buying my car, there was only one thing circling in my mind: “Danger doesn’t take a vacation.” And I realized that my health and security should be in the first place in my life, so I started considering the possible safest cars.
Today among the safest cars stand Ford, Volkswagen, Subaru and Volvo. Generally, the first thing that makes the car valuable and good is the degree of safety that it provides. As you know the safety starts with the right design, which means that it should be so well designed as to prevent accidents and crashworthiness. These two factors form the basis of a safe car.
So, what does the design of these cars offer to all the drivers and passengers?
Anti-lock braking system – Anti-lock braking system allows to have a perfect control over the brakes, which supposes mild and smooth stops in case of slippery, icy or rocky surfaces.
Traction control – Traction control promotes the control of the driving wheels. Its main aim is to exclude the possibility of the loss of control over the wheels. Traction control involves electronic stability control and roll stability control. Electronic stability control helps to prevent spin-outs on stiff or smooth roads. And Roll stability control forces on the wheels, which helps to keep them firmly on the ground and greatly lessens the possibility of a turnover.
Autolock – Autolock automatically locks the doors when they are closed and you are driving the car.
When considering the safest cars, you should also pay attention to such things as air bags, safety belts, front and rear safety belt system, belt-minder warning system, autolamp on/off delay system, remote keyless entry and so on.
Nevertheless, no car is 100% safe. Even the safest ones won’t be safe enough for you if you don’t follow the simple safety tips:
- Always wear the safety belts.
- Drive with the headlights on, even when it’s daylight.
- Check behind you every seven to eight seconds.
- Keep a four to five second space between you and other vehicles.
- Always signal your intentions.
This is not the whole list of the tips, but these are the primary ones that I advise you to pay attention to.
And at the end I want to say that with all my knowledge about the safest cars, I decided to by Volvo C30 for me. It is really what I needed: it’s safe and looks great.
Anyway, as I already said, safety must be the first factor when you choose a car, and remember that sometimes it’s better to be late in this world than early to the next.
