Needing Hummer Accessories

Needing Hummer AccessoriesNow that I am getting a bit more serious about trading in my Prius for a Hummer–an insane idea for many readers of this post I’m sure–I have been busy researching accessories that may be of practical use.

I’ve pretty much decided that I want an H1 open top, so now it’s a question of finding the right gear for it. First off, I’m thinking about investing in a new steering wheel, probably one made by MOMO since they seem to be sturdier and I could get a better grip, especially if I’m doing some off-roading. New firm seats as well. If I’m going to be bouncing all over the place while driving though a field littered with huge rocks, I should ensure that my tush is as comfy as I can make it. Then there’s the off-road accessory kit to consider. You never know when a fire extinguisher may come in handy.

Since the H1 open top can essentially be considered a convertible of sorts, I’ll need to worry about the wind factor. If I’m going to be hauling stuff in the rear open cargo area, like my office equipment and files that have a tendency to fly out of my car with the windows open, I’m going to need proper protection, which is where a canvas cargo soft top comes in, a replacement for the regular top that only covers the cabin.

Next are tires. I will want Super Swampers manufactured especially for the Hummer if I’m going to do any driving off-road. Realistically, I don’t know if I ever will roam off the highway, but you have to be prepared for anything, right?

Then there are performance issues to be concerned about. Power steering assist system is something I will undoubtedly need to help me drive that gargantuan sexy beast. I’ll also need an adjustable shock absorbing system so that I can switch from a stiff to a soft response, depending on the road surface, with controls affixed to the dashboard.

And how about some side steps to help me and my passengers get in and out of the thing?

If I’ve calculated right, I’m already up to $8,000 just on accessories for the H1 open top that I still have yet to find, let alone afford. Terrible. Maybe I should call the whole thing off and go for that BMW convertible instead. That baby will certainly attract more women than the Hummer, that’s for sure.

  2. All I can say is if you can afford to drive one of these ‘beasts’ nowadays, you must be rich!
